MINI MALS
MINI MALS
Custard Point has been shaping Mini Mals since the 80's!! Our most famous high Volume model took ten years to perfect. And we think you won't find a better board to help you learn to surf.

Tim Mellors learnt how to shape the mini mal whilst on a shaping apprenticeship in California in the early 80s. When he came back to the UK he found these boards went really well in British waves. From there Tim went on to shape mini mals for many of the most well known surf brands and shops in the UK.
The Mini Mal simply means mini Malibu which is a kind of longboard popular in the Malibu area of California. Essentially they are a cut and shut job, with the nose and tail of a longboard and a foot to two taken from out of the middle and then the two halves stuck back together. It means you have a stable board that paddles well for catching waves and its is much shorter than a traditional nine foot log and therefore much more maneuverable. So in short the perfect compromise between a long and short surfboard.

We have three main types of Mini Mal so there is something for everyone, and all ability levels as they are in no means just for beginners.
